The bilingual 4ESO group did a nice excursion to visit the 3 rivers of the city: Ebro, Huerva and Gallego. Discovering the river ecosystem with its flota and fauna plus their geological landscapes. We profited the same day to share the information searched doing our Ecology Homework.
This is a brief review of the excursion written by Sara Escribano.
And here there are some pictures of that day:
We stopped at Bruil park to draw some birds and tree leaves and find the 3 rivers of the city in our map.
At this point of Huerva River (also called la Güerba) we could apreciate the points of deposition and erosion at both banks of the smal meander.
At Huerva´s mouth we pointed at the effect of the dam “azud” on the river flow. We could also notice the lack of bank forest (called soto) at this area.
At this point we took the maps again to notice the way of Huerva river in the city and the attention that our city urbanism pours on it. Then we saw the possibilities of a river as a green pathway in the middle of the city. The same we can not imagine a Zaragoza without Ebro, we wished the Huerva had never been covered underground in the middle of the city.
Reading this panel we got information about the 3 rivers, for example we learned where does the name Gallego river come from.
Looking at the dam “azud” we spoke at the uses of water and at this point we dicussed about the Ebro river dredge by the same time that a big machine in front of us was ready to start the work that they have to repeat once and once again.
This is the landscape where they plan to prepare a new expo, this time it is EXPO PAISAJES 2014 , I guess that no expo can be as sustainable as this landscape that is only 20 minutes far from center town. let´s hope that the city this time listen to the real needs of their citizens and we forget about this unecological project.
No doubt we had a wonderful time, and probably we learned too.
